The Urgency of Gender Equality
Every year, on March 8th, the world unites to celebrate International Women’s Day. This year’s theme, For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment is a call to action to move beyond conversations and take tangible steps toward true gender equality.
For over a century, International Women’s Day has been a powerful reminder of the need for gender equality, inclusion, and empowerment. Since 1911, the world has made significant strides in advancing women’s rights. However, challenges remain—from healthcare inequalities to workplace disparities and gender-based violence.
In 2025, we focus on accelerating action—because the time for change is now. The urgency to push forward is captured in the global campaign #AccelerateAction, emphasizing that gender equality must be more than a vision—it must be a reality.

Where, Why and What can be done
1. The Gender Gap in Healthcare
Health is a human right, and women’s health deserves equal treatment, funding, and research attention. Women’s health isn’t just a medical issue—it’s an empowerment tool. Ensuring access to quality healthcare allows women to thrive, contribute to society, and live with dignity.
But women cannot do this alone. We must all take action:
Women’s health needs are unique, yet medical research and policies often prioritize male-centric data. This results in misdiagnosed heart attacks in women, a lack of reproductive health research, and gender bias in medical treatment.
🔹 What we can do:
- Demand gender-inclusive medical research
- Support women’s health funding
- Educate communities on women’s health issues
Women’s health isn’t just a women’s issue—it’s a societal issue.
2. Breaking Barriers in Leadership & Workplaces
Globally, women still earn less than men for the same work. Women in leadership positions face gender bias and fewer opportunities.
Organizations with diverse leadership perform better. Yet, women are still underrepresented in decision-making roles.
🔹 What we can do:
- Support policies for equal pay & workplace inclusion
- Advocate for women in leadership roles
- Mentor & sponsor young women in business & politics
It’s time to break the glass ceiling!
3. The Role of Men in Gender Equality
Gender equality isn’t just a women’s issue—it’s a human issue. Men play a key role in breaking biases, challenging societal norms, and supporting women’s rights.
- Fathers supporting daughters in education
- Husbands sharing caregiving responsibilities
- Male leaders advocating for equal workplace policies
When men and women work together, everyone benefits.
4. Economic Empowerment: The Key to Equality
When women are economically empowered equality, they uplift families, communities, and nations. Yet, women face barriers like:
- Unequal pay
- Limited access to business funding
- Financial exclusion
🔹 What we can do:
- Invest in women-led businesses
- Demand equal pay policies
- Educate girls on financial literacy
Women’s financial freedom = A better world for all.
5. Women's Mental Health: Breaking the silence
Women juggle work, family, and societal expectations, yet mental health is often overlooked. The stigma around therapy, stress, and burnout prevents many from seeking help.
-
We must normalize:
- Mental health days & therapy
- Work-life balance without guilt
- Support for postpartum depression & menopause mental health
A gender-equal world must include mental well-being.
The Future Is Equal, But Only If We Take Action
International Women’s Day is more than a celebration—it’s a movement. To achieve true gender equality, we must commit to action in health, leadership, economics, and mental well-being
We believe in a world that has a human face and accomodative of all of us living in the planet. While we acknowledge that gender differences exist, we wish that we would first of all consider each others as humans and humane, deserving of equal opportunities and equity. Be inspired to accelerate action because you understand that for decades a significant part of the society is yet to realize equality in empowerment, equal rights and opportunities and this imbalance affects us as humans and the world!
As Gloria Steinem said, “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”
We all have a role to play in achieving gender equality. Whether it’s advocating for equal opportunities, supporting women in leadership, or ensuring women’s health needs are met, every action counts.
How will you contribute to a more gender-equal world?
